The UAE market recorded 23,066 vehicles in August 2026, down 15.1% year on year, bringing the year-to-date total to 160,210, down 23.2%.

Toyota retains the lead with a 21% share, but on a sharp 31% decline — meaning its lead is shrinking faster than the market itself.

Against that, Jetour holds fourth place and BYD fifth with a 4.8% share: a Chinese presence at the heart of the table rather than at its edges.

Saudi Arabia is a market of marques, the UAE a market of models — which is why Chinese presence there is measured in models, not brand share.

At model level, the Mitsubishi Outlander led with an 8.9% share and an exceptional 623% jump, followed by the Toyota Hilux and then the Nissan Patrol on 7%.

The Jetour T2 appears fourth despite falling 28.1% in the month, and the Jetour G700 and MG 3 also feature — three Chinese models among the best sellers in a single market.

The difference between the two large Gulf markets deserves attention when building any regional estimate: Saudi Arabia is a market of marques, where Toyota’s large share settles the lead; the UAE is a market of models, where a single car can overturn its marque’s ranking in a month.

Which makes measuring Chinese presence in the UAE by the number of models in the table more accurate than measuring it by brand share alone.
