BMW has revealed the new generation of the 3 Series, carrying one of its longest-running nameplates into a new technological era.
The new car is the eighth generation of the 3 Series, a model that has sat at the centre of BMW’s range for more than five decades. The company describes the new generation as a major technical step, as its latest electronics, digital systems and electrification strategy increasingly shape the product.
The 3 Series retains its strategic importance because it has historically balanced a premium position against a price and size more within reach than BMW’s flagship models. It also serves a wide audience, from traditional executive-saloon customers to drivers interested in performance.
Production will be concentrated in Germany across the Munich and Dingolfing plants, with batteries supplied from the Irlbach-Straßkirchen facility.
The company’s current product strategy is increasingly shaped by the Neue Klasse programme, which introduces a new electronic architecture, an updated user interface and next-generation battery technology across its forthcoming electric cars.
BMW has also confirmed a significant manufacturing investment tied to the new 3 Series. Production will be concentrated in Germany across the Munich and Dingolfing plants, with batteries supplied from the Irlbach-Straßkirchen facility.

For Gulf markets, the decisive details will be regional engine availability, equipment, prices and timing. BMW has not historically offered every global 3 Series configuration in every Middle Eastern market, so Gulf buyers should wait for local confirmation before assuming a particular drivetrain or options package will be available.
The new generation also arrives in a shifting premium market. Electric saloons are growing more capable, SUVs continue to dominate regional demand, and Chinese manufacturers are entering premium segments with strong technology and equipment packages.
That makes the role of the traditional compact executive saloon more interesting. The new 3 Series has to preserve the driving character associated with the badge while delivering the software and cabin technology expected of a new-generation premium car.
Gulf Auto will update this story when BMW Middle East confirms Gulf specifications, launch timing and prices.
